LIGHT SCIENCE Visionary Permaculture New Media Design

As you can tell by comparing the 64 CARDS with the book GENE KEYS by Richard Rudd, I was very directly inspired by that book in my work. I felt that it wasn’t copying to any severe degree and I just knew the connections between the two were at an appropriate level to work well together as complimentary tools. This was just one of many reasons why I felt it was very meant to be that I had such a successful relationship with them as a designer on their website. I really enjoyed meeting Richard Rudd in that process.

For many years I used to do epic amounts of paid design work for my educator in Permaculture (ecological design), Delvin Solkinson, who led me all the way to my Advanced Diploma. Delvin paid me for 3 hugely elaborate versions / re-iterations of his Permaculture Principles Design Deck. It was my idea at the time to do geometrically shaped card sets and I found a printer who could produce them on demand. This led to another hexagon card set with Delvin, a tool for landscape design, and a circular shaped set about water with his friend Kym Chi. You can still buy Delvin’s old Principles Set which inspired (in the negative and the positive) the 64 CARDS which is a completely re-worked and original set.

During my ongoing advanced education in Permaculture, Delvin hooked me up with so many design jobs doing Permaculture land maps for his students, and the occasional poster for community ecological resource projects. These are my 2 favourites from that time. The ‘Heart Gardens’ Farmer’s Market and the free resource centre the ELFINHOME.

LYONESS YES : Ba Adonai’s only solo album YES, under the artist name LYONESS was a collection of songs written for performance-only in 1999 / 2000. These songs were recorded and released on December 21, 2012 when performances of these songs were closed. New liner notes have been released on Facebook at this link. SoundCloud album link here.
